We rented a Hertz bus to travel from Panama
City to Volcan for four vets and nine assistants. One vet came from
Costa Rica for Saturday only. We flew another vet, Dr. Guajarado, from
Panama City on Saturday afternoon and he rode the bus back with us
Sunday night.
On
Saturday, February 26, 73 animals were operated on, dewormed,
vaccinated against rabies, had their ears cleaned and were dusted with
flea/tick powder. We collected $17.81 in contributions.
On Sunday, February 27, 56 animals were operated on, dewormed,
vaccinated against rabies, had their ears cleaned and were dusted with
flea/tick powder. We collected $119.19 in contributions.
Dr.
Andres Bailey, Dr. Letty Guajardo, Dr. Anabell Herrera, Dr. Itzel
Terrero, Dr. Andres Tello y Dr. Narcisa de Volcan.
Gina
Ortiz, one of our former assistants is from Volcan, so Gina and Sr.
Angel did the census and put up the the posters announcing the
sterilization blitz. They schedule four animals to arrive every 15
minutes -- we can't have 50 animals waiting in line.
Gina
put the group up in her house. Half of us slept in beds and the rest
slept on the floor. Our food (delicious!) was provided by the locals.
