The
rainy season in Panama is 9 months, however in the atlantic coast it
seems to be the 12 months. The weather was the major obstacle for
the team to go more frequently to the area.
Thanks to the
remaining grant of D. Reuben and MRF, 62 dogs and 17 cats were
sterilized, dewormed, had their ears cleaned, sprayed for fleas and
ticks and vaccinated against rabies on August 22-23, 2009, bringing the
total animals sterilized in the atlantic coast to 571.
Total
contributions from the guardians for the 79 animals was $20.50.
Collected by Lorraine Chamberlain's friends totaled $180.00.
For
this blitz, Dr Rick Beldegreen and Dr. Dena Anderson; and assistants
Emma Johnson and Lindsey Moneta came on behalf of World Vets.
Participating Spay/Panama vets: Dr. Augusto Barragan, Dr. Gloria Fonseca, Dr. Letty de
Guajardo and Dr. Raquel Fuster. Assistants: Anibal,
Alberto, Amarilys, Marlen, Elia, Krista, Rebeca, Liriela and Abi.
Mrs.
Lorraine hosted the team at her beautiful home. We had torrential
rains every day. We will be back to the atlantic coast to
continue with the sterilization campaigns
