Hidrobo is a trapper and she had commented on the over population of animals at the female penitentiary.  Anibal, Carolyn, Angela Ting and Pat went to personally inspect the area.

Subsequently, Dr. Guajardo, accompanied by Anibal, Melany, Quiriat, Marlene and Pat gave the presentation, explaining that 30% of the world population is or has been infected with toxoplasmosis.  The symptoms are similar to the flue.  Mos people are infected through meats not well cooked or vegetables and fruits not well washed.  The parasite toxoplasma gondii that causes the toxoplasmosis, completes a cicle of its life in the felines, and it is eliminated in the feces but it must be exposed to the air for at least 24 hours to become infectious.  IT IS FALSE THAT YOU CAN BE INFECTED WITH TOXOPLASMOSIS THROUGH THE URINE, BITES, SCRATCHES OR LICKINGS OF YOUR CAT. IT IS FALSE THAT YOU CAN BE INFECTED BY PETTING YOUR CAT.

The best prevention is CLEANLINESS -- wash your hands.  Especially if you are pregnant.  It was also explained that cats play an important role in the balance of nature by keeping the number of rats and insects in check.
